The 5 Things to Check Before You RFQ

1. GSM and Fabric Weight

For spa hand towels and wraps, 400–500 GSM balances comfort against dry time in a humid environment; bed linen for treatment tables typically runs lighter to support faster turnover between clients. Confirm GSM separately for each linen type you’re ordering rather than assuming one number covers towels, wraps, and sheets alike.

2. Anti-Fungal / Anti-Microbial Treatment

This is the spa-specific spec that doesn’t show up on a salon or hotel sheet. Ask whether the fabric has a built-in anti-fungal treatment rather than a topical spray finish that washes out after a few cycles — this is what actually controls odour and mildew spotting in a steam-heavy environment.

3. Moisture Resistance and Dry Time

Request a sample and test dry time under your actual treatment-room conditions, not a lab average. A linen that takes noticeably longer to dry between bookings slows down your room turnover regardless of how it performs on paper.

4. Minimum Order Quantity and Lead Time

Day spas and multi-property wellness chains have very different order volumes. Get MOQ and lead time in writing separately, and check whether the supplier can split delivery across multiple centres in one PO.

5. Reorder and Replacement Cycle

Ask for a wash-count or timeframe rating specific to humid/steam conditions — a rating tested for a hotel’s dry laundering cycle won’t hold in a spa’s more demanding environment.

• Can you split one PO’s delivery across multiple centres or branches?

• Do you offer a physical sample I can test in an actual treatment room before ordering?

• How do you handle reorders that need to match an existing dye lot or fabric batch?

• “Anti-fungal” with no explanation of how. A topical spray finish is not the same claim as a treated fibre, and only one of them lasts through repeated washing.

• No spa-specific test data. A durability rating from a hotel laundering cycle doesn’t predict performance in steam-room conditions.

• No sample for real-condition testing. A supplier confident in their moisture performance will support a treatment-room trial, not just a swatch.

• Vague dry-time claims. Ask for a number, not “fast-drying.”
